Pinswap source policy

Pinswap is a free, non-commercial, community wiki for race and off-road harnesses, run like Wikipedia: every value has a citation, facts are stated in our own words, and sources are linked, not republished.

Rules

  1. No citation, no value. Anything not found stays null / not found.
  2. Facts only. Pin numbers, functions, wire colours, connector IDs, part numbers, resistances, currents, tooth counts. Never copy manual pages, diagrams, images or long passages onto Pinswap or into the repo. Descriptions are written by us.
  3. Cite precisely. Title = the real document name + model year + section/page; URL = the exact page; publisher = the hosting site (for community copies, also the original OEM). Hash any PDF read; store the hash, not the file.
  4. Fetch only what's needed. No bulk mirroring, no scraping catalogues whose terms forbid it.
  5. Never use torrent or warez sites, or files that are only available as pirated downloads.
  6. Several sources per value is good. A higher tier wins in display. Disagreements stay visible as conflicts (claims) until resolved by a better source.
  7. Takedowns: if a rights holder or a hosting site asks, remove that source's citation (and anything quoted), keep the value only if another source supports it, otherwise mark it not found. Also delete that source's private snapshot files from the evidence store. Contact: see the Copyright page.

Each source is also snapshotted on retrieval into a private evidence store (outside git and the web root): a PDF render, a PNG screenshot and a single-file HTML copy (or the original file for a PDF source), each SHA-256-hashed and submitted to the Wayback Machine. Public pages show only the original link, the Wayback link, the capture date and the hash; the files themselves are admin-only.

  1. Contributed data is shared under the site's data license (see Terms). Contributors keep credit in the history.
