Before you start

Not confident with automotive wiring? Have a professional harness builder or tuner do it, or check your work before first power-up. A wiring mistake can damage the ECU, the engine or the car, or start a fire.

Statusdraft · not yet verified: nobody has reported building and running this harness
Open errorsnone
Size of the job25 wires · 7 connectors · 0 part lines
ToolsCrimp and extraction tools for each terminal family (see Connectors) · wire strippers · multimeter · heat gun + heat-shrink
Order of work1. Check every part against the parts list. 2. Cut and label every wire (labels: Export → Wire labels). 3. Crimp and pin connector by connector, ticking the build checklist. 4. Run the bench test with nothing plugged in and the battery disconnected. 5. Only then connect the ECU and power up.

Build checklist

Tick each box as you go. Continuity: meter from end to end, expect under 1 Ω.

Bench test (before first power-up)

Battery disconnected, ECU and every sensor unplugged. Meter on resistance. Each pair below must read open (OL): a reading means a pinched wire, a stray strand or a mis-pinned cavity. Then check continuity of every wire (last column of the build checklist).

#Probe AProbe BExpectWhyReading

2ME221-C1-52ME221-C1-15open (OL)sensor ground must not touch +12 V supply

If any reading doesn't match, stop and get help before powering up.

warnINJECTOR_BALLASTME221The 7M-GTE injectors (7M-GTE fuel injector) are low-impedance, but ME221 drives saturated (high-Z) injectors only. Add a ballast resistor pack in series with each injector, or use an ECU with low-Z / peak-and-hold injector drivers.
warnNET_FAMILYOEM-D-10 ↔ ME221-C1-17OEM-D-10 "A/C compressor request (A/C)" [digital_in] is wired to ME221-C1-17 "ANA VOLT 3" [analog_in]. Analog and digital on one net. A switch on an analog input works with a pull-up and a threshold; an analog sensor on a digital input loses its value.
warnNET_FAMILYOEM-D-11 ↔ ME221-C1-18OEM-D-11 "Starter signal (STA)" [digital_in] is wired to ME221-C1-18 "ANA VOLT 4" [analog_in]. Analog and digital on one net. A switch on an analog input works with a pull-up and a threshold; an analog sensor on a digital input loses its value.
warnNO_FUEL_PUMPfuel pumpThis engine harness has no fuel-pump control path: no fuel-pump relay output is wired to the new ECU. If the stock car switches the pump outside the ECU (an airflow-meter contact or a separate module), the standalone must drive the pump relay itself — see the install notes for this car.

Notes

Fit check: needs add-on. Resolve these before building: - Low-impedance injectors need peak-hold drivers or ballast resistors - Trigger pattern for Toyota 7M-GTE not found in the ECU's docs (Trigger-pattern list published in MEITE Online Help "Currently Supported Triggers" (2019): generic 36-1, 60-2, 12-1, 36-2, 24-1, 24-2 + OEM (Zetec, MX5 NA/NB/NC, Duratec, Subaru 6/7, RB 360, Denso 24+3, K20/K24, Rover T/K, ST150, VW 20VT, 1UZ, Clio 197). Pattern not listed -> genuinely not supported.) - Only 4 ignition outputs for 6 cylinders: wasted spark (pair coils per firing order) - Only 4 injector outputs for 6 injectors: batch / semi-sequential injection Auto-mapped by auto_map() from the library pin data on 2026-10-23. Review every wire against both manuals before building. Open items: - Fuel-pump control: Motorsport Electronics ME221 needs to drive the fuel pump, but the stock ECU has no fuel-pump output (an airflow-meter contact or a separate module runs it) and the ECU has no fuel-pump output pin to wire — add a fuel-pump relay on a spare low-side output, see the install notes for this car. Not wired: - OEM-D 22: Neutral start switch (NSW): no free switch_in/frequency_in/analog_0_5 on Motorsport Electronics ME221
